About the Sicilian Style "Network"
Sometimes you don't
know that you want something until you've seen what it is. "Experienced" it somehow. If you think about it, you didn't know you had a
favorite ice cream flavor until you tasted it the first time. And that's true of everything. It might be a unique work of art, a jacket,
a pair of shoes. Or perhaps an exceptional wine. This site is about ideas. About finding things that you like.
It represents a very informal "network" of firms and individuals who produce very special products
or works of art made in Sicily. Companies,
designers and artists are listed here free of charge.
We're here to help you get the most of what Sicily has to offer the curious
consumer and discerning customer - to find the best Sicilian things, typically
beyond the paths followed by casual visitors most of the time.
This site is published as a public service by the editors of Best
of Sicily, the online destination guide which in just over a decade
has become the most popular international publication in Sicily, with over
two million international readers per year. SicilianStyle.Net
is a private, non-profit initiative which is not associated with any chamber
of commerce (camera di commercio) in Palermo, Catania or any other province
of Sicily, nor with any other public agency or merchants' organisation.
Advertising is accepted to fund publication costs.
While it is essentially a destination and travel guide, Best of Sicily
publishes information on a vast range of topics and actively supports various
social programs and services, both on the website (such as its section
for students)
and in the community (we're based in Sicily).
As a matter of principle, we support the idea of local, self-sustaining
economies and the dedicated professionals who are part of them. This includes
Sicily, where over five million people (immigrants as well as Italians)
live and work.
As our staff does not legally represent any company listed here, we cannot
act as a marketing agent, and we cannot assist you with actual contact
except as part of a paid product search service (see our faqs
page for information). Some firms have English-speaking staff, while
others do not.
The coat of arms used as our logo is based on the blazon attributed to
the Hauteville dynasty which gave Sicily its first kings during the twelfth
century, ushering the island into its most prosperous era.
Thank you for visiting.
